How To Monetize Your Blog – Make Money Online Blogging

How To Monetize Your Blog

Hello Everyone,

In this article I will explain how to earn the maximum from your blog by employing the best blog monetizing techniques.

First lets look at the types of ads:
There are basically 2 kinds of ads PPC(pay per click) and affiliate links. Pay per click ads works just like the name suggests, someone clicks on one, you get paid.
With affiliate links, you refer someone to an affiliate site, if they buy something, you get a percentage. Say you refer someone to a site that gives you 5%. They then buy a $1,000 laptop. That means you get $50. Clearly, you can make much more from affiliate marketing, than from PPC links.
The key to success with affiliate marketing is the quality of your blog traffic. I'll give you an example, one of my blog pages holds the top SERP ranking for "best flash drive" in a Google regional search. People who run that search are looking to buy a flash drive. My blog post reviews the best flash drives and has affiliate links to those products. That page is highly profitable.

Whiners

As soon as you place any new ads on your blog, some of your readers are going to complain. What these people don't get, is that you put a lot of time and effort into making your blog a valuable resource. It is your right to monetize your blog and turn a honest profit from your work. Most of your readers will understand and those that don't, will eventually accept

Layout

As you can see from this page I believe in putting down a number of ads. But and this is a big but, the ads need to fit into the style of your blog. You don't want your blog to end up looking like the Frankenstein monster.
The goal of placing ads, is to get your readers to read them and then click on them. To increase the chances of that happening you should place the ads where your readers will notice them. Our Western minds are conditioned to read anything from the top left down to the bottom right. So, if you look at the layout picture, you would expect ads placed in the top left of the Header and Left Column would have the highest CTR(click through rate).
This is true with novice web users. But experienced web users have learned to ignore the Header, Left and Right Columns and to focus on the Content. You will find that I and most other publishers place most of our ads in the Content block, because they receive the most clicks there.
As ad locations go, the Left Column and the Header does better than the Right Column and the Footer is the worst.

Ads - Text VS Images VS Animation

I frequently hear the question: How should I monetize my blog, with text or image ads? The good thing about images is that they attract the readers attention. On the other hand there are more advertisers using text ads, so you can make more, than with image ads.
My recommendation is to use both, but use text ads more heavily than picture ones.
Animated ads are better than image ads at attracting attention, but there are fewer advertisers using them.
As with the other elements in monetizing your blog, experiment to find a mix that works for your blog.

The need for Paypal

If you are going to do business online, you will absolutely need Paypal. It is in the nature of blogging that there are several small incomes and expenses involved. By using Paypal, you will be able to increase your profit, by keeping your costs down. In addition some of the advertisers and affiliates only pay via Paypal, for example Ebay.

Kontera
Kontera isn't really for very small blogs. I don't recommend bothering with it unless you have 10,000 visitors a month. The good thing about Kontera is that it lets you make more money from your posts, without giving up any advertising space.
Their technology reads your posts and turns certain words into ads. The ads are double underlined. If you hover your mouse over a underlined word an ad pops up.
Go To Kontera
Google Adsense
Adsense is the most widely used PPC service. It dishes out contextual ads, based on your content and it's an easy way to start earning.
Be warned though, Adsense has very strict rules and if you break them, they will ban you.
Go To Adsense
Adbrite
Adsense won't let you use their ads on blog with certain types of content, like adult and gambling related posts. Also Adsense is a little ban happy. If that happens you need to switch your PPC ads to Adbrite.

FeedBurner
FeedBurner monetizes your RSS feed. If you think about it, everyone that reads your blog through your RSS feed is doing so without paying you. If you have more than 1,000 people reading your RSS feed everyday, you should definitely monetize them with Feedburner.

Review Me

Review me is how the big bloggers make much of their money. You basically get paid to write a review about something. The blogs with high PR and high traffic can demand huge sums for their reviews and they make thousands each month, for very little work.
More modest blogs can make $50 or so per review.

The Longer You’re Not Taking Action, The More Money Your Losing

Stop I have helped well over 4000 people start to make money online from blogging. The biggest issue I see across all my students is consistency and procrastination, if you want to make it in any business you got to actually start and then keep at it. Although I have had several websites that have made me a lot of money over night, this is not always the case, in fact quite the opposite with some blogs, so remember don’t give up to soon.
The first thing you need to do after visiting this page is to sign up for my FREE 7 day eCourse to making money online, this basically teaches you how I created IncomeDiary and how you can do it yourself to make a full time income (and more) from your own blog. Next I recommend you check out some of the eBooks I recommend, educating yourself is so important, even now that I am somewhat a success, I keep re-educating myself, every single day. You might want to start with Rob Benwell’s Blogging to the Bank eBook or Yaro Starks Blog Mastermind membership website.

Some niche’s are easier to promote products to, some have high paying keywords and some are easy to drive millions of visitors easy month! Bellow is a run down on some of the techniques used.
Advertising Banners By far the most popular advertising method so far in 2009. A great new service called BuySellAds take care of finding you advertisers and takes care of all the process for a small 25% which is well worth it!
CPM Advertising This method is really popular for the website’s that receive a huge amount of traffic, advertisers pay you for impressions rather than sales or clicks! Check out Adtegrity for CPM Advertising.
Affiliate Sales Selling on commission depending on your niche can be a huge earner and is by far my biggest earner. You promote great products and then get great commissions. Affiliate networks include CJ.com and Clickbank.

The colourful underwater world of Nudibranchs

Nudibranch by David Doubilet

No, they are not jelly candies... they are  Nudibranchs, probably the most colorful creatures in this world.
These amazing  sea animals are members of one suborder of soft-bodied, shell-less marine  mollusks, which are noted for their often extraordinary colors and striking forms. Scientists have discovered more than 3000 species of these little moving rainbows but probably other thousands still have to be discovered.
They vary in adult size from 2 to 60 cm and thay are carnivorous and sometimes cannibals of their own species.
Their wonderful colours are due to the loss of the shell as a protection. Some of them developed colours to achieve a perfect  camouflage with their  habitat, others on the contrary developed garish flamboyant colours to warn their predators about their toxicity.

I've chosen some pictures from three wonderful galleries.
These first pictures are by  David Doubilet. Removing the background he managed to drive the attention even more on the wonderful colours and shapes of the nudibranchs.

The amazing experience of Paul Nicklen and a Leopard Seal

By Guido Trombetta on 11:09 AM

I've already spoken about Paul Nicklen on the post entitled The Polar Bear reflection so make reference to that article to have more info about this extraordinary National Geographic Photographer

The first time that I've seen the amazing picture here above depicting what seems an incredibly close-up shot of a  Leopard Seal chasing a penguin I was stunned and I thought "How can the photographer be so close to the action?!?". In the following video Paul Nicken tells us the story behind the shot which is quite different from what I previously thought (the penguin is already dead) but this doesn't take out anything of the charme of the picture, on the contrary it probably increases it beacuse Nicken was the protagonist of what was in my opinion one of the most amazing experience a photographer could ever have. First of all, you have to understand that Leopard Seals are huge voracious predators that can be very dangerous for human beings (in 2003 a scientist was killed). Paul Nicklen in this case came face to face with an oversized specimen of almost 4 meters. What happened later is almost incredible: the Leopard Seal, over the course of four days, started to behave in an unexpected way traying to fed penguins to Nicklen's camera (that it thought it was his mouth) and tried to teach him how to catch prey! Take a look at the video and you'll understand what I'm talking about:

Living in a Sea Shell

Nautilus House

Do you know what's a Nautilus? yes it was the Captain Nemo's submarine, but mainly it is a mollusc, a cephalopod with a many-chambered, spiral shell.
Inspired by this particular shell, the architects from Senosiain Arquitectos realized this incredible house for a couple from Mexico City.
The open concept inside the house is dominated by smooth surfaces, spiral stairs and natural plantings that makes the inhabitants feel like they're living inside a snail who swallowed the entire contents of somebody's back yard. While the house is surrounded on three sides by the bustling Mexico City, its West side (where most of its portal-style windows are located) has a breathtaking view of the mountains.
